This workbook is to accompany the 2014 movie ‘Paper Planes’ The movie tackles themes of : Bullying, Similarities and Difference, Mental Wellbeing , Mindfulness, Overcoming Adversity Bereavement. It also has at its core the concept of Flight and the making of Paper Airplanes. I developed this resource to support learning in the class alongside the 2014 movie. We watched the movie in short episodes of about 20 minutes ( its 96 minutes in length. The children enjoyed it immensely - it formed part of our work on Shared Education which brings children from Catholic and Protestant children together here in Northern Ireland. Included here are some videos we used and just watched about making Paper airplanes. (The eagle one is a little ambitious but can be linked to the children for them to try at home) There are clips from the movie and links to two trailers as well as two short movies that have paper planes as their theme Paper Plane Paperman We also simulated the competition a the end of the movie and awarded prizes to the winners.
